Posted by: | CommentsHenry Charles Bukowski (August 16, 1920 – March 9, 1994) was a German American poet, novelist, and short story writer. Bukowski’s writing was heavily influenced by the geography and atmosphere of his home city of Los Angeles, and is marked by an emphasis on the ordinary lives of poor Americans, the act of writing, alcohol, relationships with women, and the drudgery of work. A prolific author, Bukowski wrote thousands of poems, hundreds of short stories, and six novels, eventually having over 60 books in print. In 1986 Time called Bukowski a “laureate of American lowlife”

“The more time we spend choosing, to run the deep inner peace circuitry of our right hemispheres. The more peace we will project into the world, and the more peaceful our planet will be.”

The Doctrine is Compassion — The Dalai Lama
Posted by: | CommentsWe can reject everything
else: religion, ideology, all received
wisdom. But we cannot escape the
necessity of love and compassion….
This, then, is my true religion, my
simple faith. In this sense, there is no need
for temple or church, for
mosque or synagogue, no need for complicated
philosophy, doctrine or dogma.
Our own heart, our own mind, is the temple.
The doctrine is compassion. Love
for others and respect for their rights and
dignity, no matter who or what
they are: ultimately these are all we need.
So long as we practice these in
our daily lives, then no matter if we are
learned or unlearned, whether we
believe in Buddha or God, or follow some
other religion or none at all, as
long as we have compassion for others and
conduct ourselves with restraint
out of a sense of responsibility, there is
no doubt we will be
happy.

10 Rules for Being Human.
Posted by: | CommentsTen Rules for Being Human

by Cherie Carter-Scott
| 1. | You will receive a body. You may like it or hate it, but it’s yours to keep for the entire period. |
| 2. | You will learn lessons. You are enrolled in a full-time informal school called, “life.” |
| 3. | There are no mistakes, only lessons. Growth is a process of trial, error, and experimentation. The “failed” experiments are as much a part of the process as the experiments that ultimately “work.” |
| 4. | Lessons are repeated until they are learned. A lesson will be presented to you in various forms until you have learned it. When you have learned it, you can go on to the next lesson. |
| 5. | Learning lessons does not end. There’s no part of life that doesn’t contain its lessons. If you’re alive, that means there are still lessons to be learned. |
| 6. | “There” is no better a place than “here.” When your “there” has become a “here”, you will simply obtain another “there” that will again look better than “here.” |
| 7. | Other people are merely mirrors of you. You cannot love or hate something about another person unless it reflects to you something you love or hate about yourself. |
| 8. | What you make of your life is up to you. You have all the tools and resources you need. What you do with them is up to you. The choice is yours. |
| 9. | Your answers lie within you. The answers to life’s questions lie within you. All you need to do is look, listen, and trust. |
| 10. | You will forget all this. |

Posted by: | Comments| A Motivational Story with Wisdom - Two Wolves Cherokee Wisdom . One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people. He said, “My son, the battle is between two wolves inside us all. One is Evil. It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego. The other is Good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith.” The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather: “Which wolf wins?” The old Cherokee simply replied, “The one you feed.” |
